Symposium: Global Award For Sustainable Architecture

The Cité de l'Architecture et du Patrimoine, Paris, France, organizes a symposium to honour architects who share the same opinion in regard with sustainable development.

Inaugurated in 2007, the Global Award honours architects who share the same opinion regarding sustainable development and have put together a new and thoughtful approach to the circumstances we live in, to societies and to diversity. Over the years, it has promoted the emergence of an international community of highly talented architects, raised the profile of their work and built up awareness of the ecological issues facing our society.

Every year, the Cité de l'Architecture et du Patrimoine hosts the new winners at a symposium, introducing their work, their aspirations and their commitments.

Coming from the USA, the Pacific zone, Europe and Latin America, the five winners that form part of the 2011 generation bear witness to the dynamism of the industry in the South and in Asia as well as the globalisation of the debate on the new interdependence between architecture, nature and growth.

The 2011 Edition will be on May 23th, 2011 from 14:00 to 19:00 with the participation and lectures of the winners of the 2011 Global Award for Sustainable Architecture: Shlomo Aronson (Israel), Vatnavinir (Island), Anna Heringer (Germany), Teddy Cruz (USA), and Q'eswachaka. Communidades de Huinchiri (Peru).  This will be followed by an exhibition of the winners of the 2010 Global Award for Sustainable Architecture: Steve Baer (USA), Junya Ishigami (Japan), Giancarlo Mezzanti (Columbia), Troppo Architects (Australia) and Snøhetta (Norway).
