Structural System
This Headquarters building can be articulated into three core elements: energy efficiency, best views and direct daylight, that is to say a building that provide comfort for workers as well as low energy consumption. MVRDV's strategy is to start with compact floors of 1849 square meters.

The below diagram shows how the floor will be stacked providing: entrance and shops located on the ground floors, leisure program, city hall views, dining hall, golf course views, executive lounge and Hong Kong bay views. The edges of each floor plate are folded down with an angle ranging from 35 to 55° with the aim of creating shadow for the floor below. The other purpose is to respond to cooling demand of the building.

The other key to element is the required best direct daylight which can be obtained with the integration of shading system adapted to orientations. This results in a 204-meter tall tower with a square floor plan and an elegant, slender volume with no workplace further than 11 meters away from the facade.

MVRDV opts for large glass fronts that connect louvers to allow for spectacular views of the building's environment. These louvers vary in size according to the orientation of the buildings. The louvers facing the north are small while those facing the south are larger. Their angle permits the addition of solar cells and is announced to minimize the energy demand of the building by 33%.

A long water pipe system runs through the facade. Its function is to collect the eat of the solar cells to heat up water. The louvers will be used for water collection to feed the grey water circuit.

A commercial plinth or glass facades equip the sides of the ground floor. They connect inside and outside. A low rise volume which hosts a shopping centre and a conference centre is implanted next to the tower. The underground contain a tunnel which facilitates pedestrian access to a nearby metro station.
