Atelier CMJN first prize for the eVolo 2011 Skyscraper Competition

Founded by Julien Combes and Gaël Brulé, French Atelier CMJN's design proposal received the first prize for the eVolo 2011 Skyscraper Competition. Combes and Brulé's proposal is simple, low-cost and sustainable. Their building is conceived as a giant turbine. It has been imagined for one of the most polluted Cities, precisely New Delhi — but one can include Mumbai,  to quote a few.

Two key elements characterize their proposal: recycle and de-polluting. Recycle, first: the LO2P: Delhi Recycling Center consists of recycling the old cars and use them as building material for the new structure, that is a low-cost and sustainable building.

De-pollution, then: It is designed as a giant lung that would clean New Delhi's air through a series of large-scale greenhouses that serve as filters.

Another set of rotating filters's function is to capture the suspended particles in the air while the waste heat and carbon dioxide from the recycling center can be used for plants to grow which will provide production of bio-fuels.

Who are they?
Atelier CMJN (literally the "CMYK workshop") is born from the collaboration between architects and engineers. In the same way basic colors generate any colors, Atelier CMJN develops any project with its various skills. This collaboration captures Atelier CMJN's willingness to develop a sensitive architecture, supported by a technical and sustainable approach.
Throughout their projects, Atelier CMJN's team has enlarged and formed some multidisciplinary working groups in order to meet the different challenges.
This permanent discussion between actors from different cultures and different backgrounds enables us to offer the clients relevant, contemporary and sustainable solutions.
